The Whirl-Pak® "Speci-Sponge®" Surface Sampling Bag is available 3 ways: with sterile phosphate buffer, with sterile gloves or with buffer and gloves. These options provide savings of time and money. They provide a sample package with all of the necessary components required to collect a sample. Choose the option that best suits your sampling needs.

Stated in the Compendium of Methods for the Microbiological Examination of Foods, 3rd edition, section 3.521 (Sponge Contact Method 53) "Sterile plastics bags are suitable to contain the sponges after sampling". In section 40.52 ­ sample containers under Food Outbreak, "For food specimens, these would include sterile plastic bags..." Whirl-Pak® bags qualify for both of these procedures.

Resins used in the extrusion of film for Whirl-Pak® Bags are FDA approved. Bags are manufactured in accordance with the requirements for manufacturers of single service containers for milk and milk products. Capacity is measured in fluid ounces when bag is closed and tab folded over three times. Volume and dimensions are approximate; bags should not be used at temperatures above 180°F (82°C).
